The Central highlands cover the Southern part of the Truong Son mountain range and include the provinces of Lam Dong, Dac Lac, Gia Lai and Kon Tum. The region which is home to many Ethno-Linguistic minority groups, is renowned for its cool climate, mountain scenery and innumerable streams, lakes and waterfalls.

The Western region of the Central Highlands along the border with Cambodia and Laos is a vast, fertile plateau with red soil of volcanic origin.

With the exception of Lam Dong province (where Dalat is), the Central highlands was until 1992, closed to foreigners.

Lam Dong province is located on the highest west highlands of Central Vietnam (1,500m altitude) and 70% of its area is covered by mountains and forests. The beauty of Da Lat is highly praised. Here are the key tourist sites:

Prenn Falls
Prenn Falls are located at the foot of Prenn Mountain Pass. The 10 km long pass is on the route from Da Lat to Ho Chi Minh City.

Cam Ly Waterfall
Even before arriving at the site of the falls, one is likely to hear the noise produced by the water running through the city in a zigzag.

Xuan Huong Lake
Xuan Huong is a beautiful lake located in the center of Da Lat. It is a poetic site, attacting visitors and lovers.

Linh Son Pagoda
Situated on a hill 700 m from the center of Da Lat on Nguyen Van Troi Street. Linh Son Pagoda was built in 1938.

Linh Phong Pagoda
Linh Phong Pagpda is located on Hoang Hoa Tham Road on large and beautiful grounds. The pagoda was built in 1944.

Thien Vuong Co Sat Pagoda
The pagoda is located on a palm tree-covered hill. The pagoda was built by the Bonze Superior Tho Da - the Chinese Society) in 1958.

Dalat Flower Park
Dalat Flower Park is regionally famous for its diversified species of flowers. It is considered as a natural museum housing a fine collection of native and exotic flowers. The park comprises at least 300 different kinds of flowers, hundreds being in blossom all year round.

Golf Course
The 18-hole golf course, meets international technical standards. It became operational in early 1994. The unique design of the course combined with picturesque landscapes attract a lot of golf players.

Palaces
Da Lat has three magnificent, large palaces. They were built on top of hills which are located in beautiful natural surroundings according to French designs.

Da Lat Cathedral
The cathedral, was built between 1931 and 1942. This cathedral was used by the French who visited and vacationed in Dalat.

Lam Dong Province Museum
This museum is located on the top of a hill in the city. Visitors can admire local historical and traditional displays, especially ethnological and archaeological artifacts.

Da Lat Market
The market is one of the most beautiful markers in the country. A wide array of flowers, fruits, and vegetables from the tropical and temperate zones is available there.

Valley of Love
The Valley of Love is circled by hills covered with pine trees. During Bao Dai King's reign, the valley was called Hoa Binh (Peace) and was later called Valley of Love.
